Making Appointments – Students who wish to make an appointment should go to Tutoring.jhu.edu. The link through the JHU portal is currently not in use.
The Learning Den provides tutoring for all registered students in the School of Arts and Sciences and the School of Engineering. Before making an appointment, review the tutoring schedule.
Seats are filled on a first-come, first-serve basis. All groups may contain a maximum of 6 students. To ensure that each participating student has a chance to ask questions and participate, this size limit is strictly enforced.
Especially before exams, it is important to reserve your seat in advance and to attend all your scheduled appointments. If the groups are full, email firstname.lastname@example.org and request additional groups. Depending upon tutor and room availability, we may be able to create special sessions for your course.
How to Prepare for you Tutoring Session
Read over this list of suggestions prior to attending your session. This will help you and the tutor make the most of your session time.
All tutoring is held in Gilman Hall during evening hours, Sunday through Thursday. Check-in is located inside the Hutzler Reading Room in Gilman Hall, at the reception cubicle to the left. The Fall semester will run from September 9th – December 5th.
The Learning Den is closed during university holidays and weather-related closures. Please refer to the math, physics, or chemistry help room for assistance during other times when Learning Den support is not available. Check with your TA or professor for additional support and office hours.
The schedule below is subject to change. We add extra groups before exams or as existing groups fill up. Check the Learning Den via your JHU portal for the most current information.
Appointments can be made starting September 9th.
How to Reserve a Seat
You can reserve your seat up to two weeks in advance for specific tutoring sessions. If there is still room in a group, you can also reserve a seat the same day of the session.
Online: To log in, go to the JHU portal and click on Education and then, The Learning Den.
Please email the Learning Den if you are having problems making an appointment.
How to Cancel a Reservation
If you cannot make your appointment, be sure to cancel so that your seat can be offered to another student.
To cancel an appointment, log into your JHU portal, click on Education, click on The Learning Den, and then cancel your scheduled appointment. Or, contact Hope Fisher no later than noon on the day of the session.
Students who reserve a seat and do not show, or who are more than 15 minutes late, will have a “no show” marked on their record. After two no shows, students are unable to reserve their seat in advance for the remainder of the semester, but may still drop in to groups that are not full.
Fall 2019 Schedule
